Review of Intuition HQ - Get a Free Test
What is Intuition HQ?
Intuition HQ is a online usability testing service for your website or application. Basically, you sign up, set up a "test" for your site, and pay $9 to publish the test and get results. But getting feedback on your results, you can improve your current design.
Basically, your test is a question for the user taking the usability test. A question like "Where do you click to find more categories?" or something similar, and the user will be asked to click on a screenshot of your site. Intuition HQ then outputs a click heatmap as the result of the test, so you can see where users are assuming things are.
This could help on your design, if for example, you ask users to find the contact page, but instead you get results all over the place. That would probably mean you change the wording or make the link to it more prominent.
It's much easier to head over to their site, and watch the introduction video.
What we thought
Well, when I first landed on the site, I began by filling out the registration form, and getting my subdomain set up.
Here is a screenshot of their homepage:

Then, after a few seconds of taking a look at all the options, I created a test, and uploaded a few screenshots of Designmess. It took about a few minutes for me to finish setting up test, and messing around to get it published.
Once it was all set up, here is what it looked like:

Pretty straightforward. After you've got your test all set up, you can then pay (or if you are reading this review, go to the bottom and get your free test) and your test becomes public (meaning people can actually take it).
After you publish your test, here is what it looks it:

Ratings
So here are my ratings for the service.
-
Usability of their site
4.5/5
As long as you watch the video on how to set up your test, things should go smoothly. But for those who failed to watch the introduction video, they may be a tad confused. Perhaps if the set up process was in a series of steps (example: Step 1: Name your test, Step 2: Upload Screenshots, etc), then it might simplify things. -
Support
5/5
I got support whenever I had a question or had an issue pretty quickly. They fixed any bugs quickly as well, so I'll have to say I am very satisfied with their support. -
Price
4/5
$9 is a fair price for running a test, but seeing how they are a fairly new service, I might consider lowering it a bit or running a promotion or something.
Other Issues
One problem with all these usability testing services out there is that once you publish your test, there is no way to guarantee you will get results. Of course, this is really difficult, because you can't exactly force users to take these tests. With that in mind, once you publish your test, it isn't like a flare gun going off, telling people to take your test. You need to post it on Twitter, Facebook, etc, to get people to participate.
